Children's dentist
near Bolingbrook, IL.
Most of what decides an adult's teeth was settled in childhood. Habits, food, and whether anyone made brushing feel normal.
Habits now,
teeth later.
We talk with children about nutrition and about avoiding sugary drinks and snacks. It is a dull message and it is the one that matters most, so we say it to your child rather than only to you.
We also watch the habits that move teeth. Thumb sucking is the well known one. Tongue tie, which is tight tissue under the tongue, is the one parents rarely hear about. Both get looked at as part of a routine exam.
Good oral health is closely tied to overall health. Poor oral health has been linked to heart disease, diabetes and respiratory problems. Habits built in childhood carry into adult life, which is the whole reason we start young.

Food, habits
and health.
What do you tell children about food?
We keep it simple. Avoid sugary drinks and snacks where you can, and know that what goes in the mouth often is what shapes the teeth. We say it to your child in their own words.
Is thumb sucking really a problem?
It can move teeth, and it is one of the habits we watch at a routine exam. We look at it alongside tongue tie, crowding and how the jaws are developing.
Does dental health affect anything else?
Poor oral health has been linked to heart disease, diabetes and respiratory problems. Habits built in childhood carry into adult life.
How far is the drive from Bolingbrook?
9.1 miles, about 17 minutes. Route 53 north, right onto Hobson Road, then east on 63rd Street to Williams.
Can you see my child and me on the same trip?
Often yes. Tell us who is coming when you call (630) 810-9940 and we will try to line the visits up.
How do you make brushing stick at home?
We show your child how to do it rather than telling you to make them. A child who has been shown properly argues less about it at bedtime.
